    My Hobbit Review

Got a chance to see The Hobbit early, but I don't have TRS to talk about what I thought!  Sure, I'll be discussing it on Attack of the Show tomorrow (G4 network, check local listings), but who wants to wait for that?  Check out my spoiler-free review below:

Thank you so much for putting this review up - it's really appreciated. Your reviews on TRS were some of the most intelligent film reviews in the industry, for me at least. This has definitely convinced me to give this movie a try in 48fps, after seeing so many other reviews saying it's a disaster.

Please keep the reviews coming if you have time!

Thanks for the review Jeff. Keep them coming. Hopefully you a video review for Les Misérables and Zero Dark Thirty. Miss TRS so much this kinda fills the void.

Great review. Really glad to hear that the higher frame rate version is worth seeing. Please do more movie reviews on your blog. They are what introduced me to TRS and kept me watching for the last two years. Thank you for all the great memories I have from watching the show.

    Thanks for posting this, Jeff.
I've always loved your reviews (even on the rare occasions I didn't agree with them ;-)
    - so I really appreciate that you took the time for this; and hope there will be more to come!

I haven't seen the Hobbit yet, and think there is zero chance that I'm not going to love it, but it was nice to hear you being enthusiastic. Also, I only have one theatre within driving distance that has it in 48fps; I was intending to make the journey at some point, but given your comments, I think I'll make that the first viewing.

About the dwarves as an indistinguishable group - do you think maybe that's because it takes a while for them to emerge as individuals to Bilbo? It's like that in the book, as he slowly makes friends with them (as opposed to simply knowing who each is) and with the story divided maybe we just haven't reached that point yet.

Excited to know we get dwarven history in this first film!

    Thanks again.

Awesome Jeff. As others said, I love your reviews because your passion (positive or negative) is so infectious! We love to see and hear you!
    Keep them coming!

Jeff, thanks for a great review and you are better on your own. Who am I kidding, I MISS TRS.

    Thanks for the review Jeff!

Heading out to see the movie now. I no doubt will really enjoy the film since I'm a huge fan, but my thoughts have always closely matched yours when it comes to movies so its great to hear your enthusiasm for it. I would love to see any more content you can do to help fill the TRS void. Thanks again!

Great review Jeff. Keep it up! Glad to see you're still doing what you love even post-TRS. I look forward to whatever you do next.

Thanks for the Review. I'm going out to see it today and am really looking forward to it now. Keep the reviews coming - I would love to see you review games here as well. Your TRS video game reviews were always the best out there and helped me make many purchase decisions.

Are you still doing marathons? Doing my first next month and would like to do LA some day.

    December 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRob

Haha I guess I should have kept watching because you answered my marathon question with the next video that came up. Great job with your 4:07!

Damn I miss TRS! Great review though, I completely agree. LOVED The Hobbit, completely blown away with how Jackson takes a smaller story and amplifies it exponentially, makes it matter just as much as the LOTR. And that dirge.... forget about it. Someone just throw awards at them please.

    Awesome Jeff,
I miss TRS so much and especially your reviews. Please keep movie, Tv and other reviews coming, since there is really no serious Podcast for this stuff outhere anymore.

    December 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterChristian

Awesome, please keep doing reviews, you were always the one of the TRS guys that I agreed with on most things. I look forward to seeing more content from your Youtube channel in the future. Or why not start up a new podcast, maybe you can get Garnett Lee to join you. That would be an awesome show.

Hey Jeff, thanks for your take on The Hobbit. Interesting point of Sam being the heart in LotR. Favorite moment in The Hobbit was the messenger-goblin :)

Thanks for doing this Jeff. I did walk out of the movie wondering what you guys would have said about it. While I enjoyed the movie I was a little bit more negative. I felt that there were a lot of 'action jacksonisms'. What I mean is there were a lot of action moments used for comedic effect. The escape from under the Misty Mountains comes to mind, as does the shield surfing scene from The Two Towers. The movie falls short when Jackson deviates from the source material.

Please continue these reviews Jeff. It sounds cheesy but I really do value and respect your opinion.

i really hope Jeff wasn't being serious... Otherwise.. I only can imagine, what's wrong with some brains...
Hobbit.. Yeah.. one of the worst movie experience in history. Actually THE worst. The worst looking movie ever created. Digital + 48fps = beyond disgusting. If films looked like that when I grew up I never would have become a filmfan. It looks like cheap, dumb Youtube crap. That's not the reason to to the movies.

Secondly, awful screenplay, about 90 minutes too long. Awful story, with nothing interesting at all.
LOTR was 3 books, and 3 movies.
This is one small book, and 3 movies.
    Uhm, yup.
